Miyamoto Unosuke Shoten Launches US-based Online Taiko and Fue Learning Platform [kaDON.com]
Miyamoto Unosuke Shoten has setup a US-based operation in late 2013 to develop a new online venture where subscribers can learn taiko and fue through quality video instruction series. Content development is led by Shoji Kameda of On Ensemble, a Grammy nominated musician and one of the taiko world's most performed composers. The project is joined by Kenny Endo of Taiko Center of the Pacific in Hawaii (a renowned taiko artist with 35+ years of experience as one of the pioneers of the art form and the first non-Japanese national to receive a natori, professional stage name, in Hogaku Hayashi) and Kaoru Watanabe of Kaoru Watanabe Taiko Center in New York (former artistic director of KODO and North America's leading practitioner of the shinobue) to create an unprecedented learning environment. kaDON.com provides an accessible place for quality instruction and information for the many taiko and fue players across US and around the world. kaDON.com was launched at the World Taiko Gathering held in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles on July 18, 2014.
kaDON offers in-person workshops at various locations, as well as taiko and fue related merchandise through its online store to supplement the learning experience. While there are hundreds of taiko groups outside of Japan, quality instructions are hard to come by. It is kaDON's mission to "bring the instructors to every corner of the world" by utilizing the World Wide Web. kaDON currently offers 7 courses and over 60 video lessons to its subscribers, and new lesson is added weekly.
The project has been receiving great comments and we hope to continue to improve the website through user feedbacks and adding a variety of video lessons. It is our hope that kaDON.com will contribute to the growth of the art form and the community.
